Welcome to Southern University Laboratory School, home of the Kittens! First, let me extend a warm welcome to our newest Kittens, our new parents, and other newly minted faculty members. Secondly, we hope it will not take you long to adjust to your new surroundings and discover the true meaning of Kitten Pride. Finally, I would also like to welcome back our returning Kittens.

Please know that we are here to provide you with the best possible education. Your teaching faculty is the best! They will do their part and I encourage you to do your part to ensure that you get the most out of your educational opportunities. As a part of Southern University Laboratory School, the more you contribute, the more you will receive--so get involved with the activities of school.

Southern University Laboratory School Mission Statement: Southern University Laboratory School will provide an instructional program which increases academic, personal, physical, and cultural achievement for ALL STUDENTS through the partnership of parents, teachers, administration and community stakeholders.

Southern University Laboratory School Vision Statement: The Southern University Laboratory School is the Center of a community of learners committed to leadership in the improvement of education through the development of innovative ideas in research, curriculum development, clinical experiences, and staff professional development in an experimental school environment.  The environment emphasizes maximum success, growth, and achievement for each member of the community.

Southern University Laboratory School Today: Southern University Laboratory School is currently labeled as a “Two Star” School according to the state’s accountability system. We offer various academic curricula including the Dual Enrollment Program.  Southern University also offers many sports programs including:  football, track and field, volleyball, basketball, baseball, and softball. As in the early days of the school, virtually all of our graduates go on to college, although some defer their college careers for a year or two in favor of employment opportunities in this state or country, both near and far. However, as a catalyst for educational innovation, Southern University Laboratory School seeks to spark the creative fervor and high aspirations of talented young people; to inspire them to excellence; to challenge them through traditional and experimental strategies; to ignite their potential for active, responsible involvement in the adult world; and to influence positively the larger educational community.
